Road Transport Development in Laddakh

As per the present knowledge and news in the Laddakh province  in September 2021, the Indian government has been actively working on road and transport development in Ladakh, with several projects underway. Here are some updates:

The Indian government has announced a plan to build a strategic tunnel under the Zojila Pass, which will provide all-year connectivity to Ladakh. The Zojila Pass, which is located at an altitude of over 11,500 feet, is currently closed for several months during the winter due to heavy snowfall.

The construction of the Chushul Airport in eastern Ladakh is also underway, with the aim of improving air connectivity to the region. The airport is being built at an altitude of over 13,000 feet and is expected to be operational by 2022.
